Local SEO for
Grand Junction businesses.
Getting found by people who are already looking for what you do, in the place where you do it.
Local SEO is the work that makes a business show up when someone nearby searches for what it sells. Every Kona Studios build includes the technical foundations for it at no extra cost: structured data, a clean URL structure, a submitted sitemap, fast load times, and location signals. Deeper local SEO work is included in Business and Growth builds, and Google Business Profile setup is available as an add-on.
Why local search is a different job
Ranking for "web design" nationally and ranking for "web designer in Grand Junction" are not the same problem. Local results are driven heavily by relevance to a place, a consistent business identity across the web, and a Google Business Profile that actually matches your site.
That means the technical work has to say clearly and repeatedly: this business, this service, this area. If your site never states where you work, search engines have to guess, and they usually guess wrong or simply leave you out.
What is included in every build
- Structured data (JSON-LD) describing the business, its services, and its service area in a format search engines parse directly
- Title tags and meta descriptions written per page, not generated from a template
- Canonical tags so duplicate URLs do not split your ranking signals
- An XML sitemap and robots.txt, configured and submitted
- Clean, readable URLs without file extensions or query strings
- Fast load times and Core Web Vitals attention: speed is a ranking factor and a conversion factor
- Location signals in the copy, the metadata and the structured data, consistently
- An llms.txt file: a plain-text summary of the business for AI crawlers
Built to be quoted by AI
A growing share of searches never reach a list of blue links. Someone asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Google's AI results who does a thing in their town, and gets a short answer with a couple of sources.
Those systems work by retrieving and summarising pages. They favour content with clear headings, direct answers near the top of a section, explicit facts, and consistent business details. That is why every page here leads with a short, self-contained answer, why prices are written as numbers rather than "contact us", and why the business name, location and contact details are identical everywhere they appear.
Nobody can guarantee placement in an AI answer, and I will not pretend otherwise. What I can do is make sure your site is structured so it can be read, understood, and quoted accurately.
Google Business Profile help
For a local business, the Business Profile often matters more than the website for map results. Setup and verification assistance is available as an add-on: getting the profile claimed, the categories right, the service area defined, and the details matching the site exactly. If you would rather do it yourself, the Google Business Profile checklist covers the same ground.
Reviews are the part I cannot do for you, and no honest provider can. What I can do is make it easy for happy customers to leave one. There is a review link in the footer of this site for exactly that reason.
What this is not
No guaranteed rankings, no bulk directory submissions, no purchased links, no keyword-stuffed filler pages. Those tactics range from useless to actively dangerous, and cleaning up after them costs more than doing it properly the first time.
Local SEO, answered.
How long before local SEO makes a difference?
The technical foundations take effect as soon as search engines re-crawl the site, usually within days to a few weeks. Actually moving up in competitive local results takes longer and depends on your Business Profile, reviews and how established competitors are. Anyone promising you a timeline is guessing.
Do I need to pay monthly for SEO?
Not for what is included in a build. That is done once and stays done. A monthly care plan keeps things current: monitoring that pages are still indexed, updating content as the business changes, and fixing anything that breaks. There is no separate SEO retainer.
Can you optimise a website you did not build?
Sometimes. It depends on the platform and how it was built. On some page builders the technical fixes that matter are simply not reachable. The honest answer often is that a rebuild costs less than repeatedly working around the existing site. I will tell you which situation you are in before you spend anything.
What about ranking outside Grand Junction?
The same foundations apply anywhere; only the location signals change. I work with clients across North America, and a site targeting a different city is set up for that city. What I know especially well is the Grand Valley market.
